IDEA includes the following kind of organizations :
- Non-profit organization : networks of organizations, professional societies, artists's organizations, cross-disciplinary organizations (bringing together researchers, scientists, theoreticians, artists)
- Museum : contemporary art museums open to new technologies ; science museums and/or museums of technology exhibiting artistic works ; specialized museums
- Gallery : spaces such as contemporary art galleries
- Arts centre-Cultural centre : exhibition, screening, showing, performance spaces. These spaces may be specialized in technological art or not, in a particular discipline or be multidisciplinary, public, privately-owned, artist-run
- Research centre-Centre for research and artistic creation : as a rule these centres are not directly concerned with the presentation of works. Forming hybrid spaces, they combine scientific and artistic research with the creation of art works
- Festival : regular events of an artistic and cultural nature. They can be devoted to a particular discipline or multi-activity
- Distribution : private, public or non-profit organizations serving as intermediaries between creators and distributors of artistic works
- Scientific research centre : certain laboratories or spaces dedicated to scientific research ("hard" or "soft" sciences) are open to exchanges with artists
- Production : companies whose production is essentially commercially-oriented but which are open to creators and artists for specific projects or employ creators and artists. The fields that are principally concerned by this type of production are computer animation, video and holography. The denomination may also refer to more culturally-oriented spaces that have studios enabling artists to create and produce their works
- Fair : fairs of which the main orientation is commercial but which include exhibitions or special artistic events
- Training-Education : university departments, laboratories, specialized centres, art colleges, workshops within arts centres and cultural centres
- Reference library-Resource centre : resource centres or information services within museums, arts centres
